Bretoneita meillä on ollut vuodesta 1994. Bretonit tulivat meille alunperin vain ja ainostaan metsästyskoiriksi, mutta kavereiden houkuteltua ensimmäiseen koiranäyttelyyn oli kärpänen purrut peruuttamattomasti. Ensimmäinen bretonimme Ylämaa Titi perehdytti meidät voittamisen saloihin, mutta opetti myös olemaan nöyrä. Titi nautti olla kehässä ja esiintyä, mutta ennen kaikkea Titi oli todella hieno metsästyskoira. Jos silloin olisi ollut tämä kokemus ja tieto niin vain taivas olisi ollut rajana.
 
Kasvettuani "isoksi tytöksi" perheen koirat ovat jakaantuneet kahteen eri talouteen ja vaeltavat oman valintansa mukaan välillä meillä ja välillä vanhempieni luona. Tämän jälkeen laumamme on kasvanut tasaisesti ja jokaiselle meistä on löytynyt se oma koira ;) Harrastuksiimme koirien kanssa kuuluu käytännön metsästyksen lisäksi tottelevaisuuskoulutus, agility sekä näyttelyt. Peruskoulutusvastuu on minulla ja itse käytännön metsästys lepää isäni, Teuvon harteilla.

Majaniemen-kennelnimen saimme vuonna 1997. Olemme Kennelliiton sitoumuskasvattajia. Kennelnimemme tulee isäni kotipaikan mukaan. Kasvatustyömme tietopohjana on mm. Suomen Kennelliiton kasvattajan perus- ja jatkokurssi, jalostusneuvojan perus- ja jatkokurssi sekä tunnistusmerkitsijäkurssi
 
Kasvatustyömme on pienimuotoista ja koiramme sekä pennut kasvavat ja elävät perheen parissa.Tavoitteenamme on taata pennuille hyvä lähtökohta kehittyä vahvoiksi, elinvoimaisiksi ja mukaviksi metsästys- ja harrastuskavereiksi sekä kasvattaa terveitä ja hyvän ulkonäön omaavia koiria, jotka myös olisivat yhteiskuntakelpoisia - sosiaalisia ja hyväluonteisia. Kasvattajana toivomme pennuille vastuuntuntoiset kodit, jossa otetaan huomioon niin koiran kuin ympäristönkin tarpeet sekä perheen joka rakastaa koiraa perheenjäsenenä. Lähtökohtana on tarkoin mietitty rodunvalinta sekä sitoutuminen pitämään koirasta huolta koko sen eliniän. 

We've had brittanys since the year 1994. First we got them just as hunting dogs, but after a while my friends managed to lure me with them also in the first dogshow and I got bitten by a show-fly - there was no turning back! Our firts brittany, Ylämaa Titi, showed us what it was to win, but also taught us to be humble too. Titi loved to be in the ring, but first and foremost she was absolutely fine hunting dog. If we've had then the experience we've got now, only skjy would have been the limit.
 
After I grew up, have the dogs in our household separated to live between two homes. They can live quite freely as they choose either in my house or at my parents house. The pack has also grown steadily and everyone of us has now the special dog of their own too. Our activities with our dogs include beside hunting also obedience, agility and shows. Responsibility of the basic training lies on my shoulders, whereas my father Teuvo takes care of the hunting journeys. 

We got the Majaniemen-prefix at 1997. We are Finnish Kennel Clubs commitment breeders. Our kennel name takes after my fathers childhood home. The basis of our knowledge as breeders comes from Finnish Kennel Clubs breeders preliminary- and advanced courses, breeding counsellors preliminary- and advanced courses, and Identification marker course.
 
Our breeding programme is done in a relatively small scale and our dogs and puppies get to  live and grow-up among our family. Our goal is trying to maintain the puppies a good basis to develop strong, vital and lovely companions both for hunting and other activities. And also to breed healthy and good-looking breed typical dogs, who can deal with the expectations of living in our society, be social and good-tempered.  As breeders we wish to fins every dog responsible homes, who know to take care of both the dogs and the surroundings they live in, and a family that loves the dog as one of their family members. Baseline is always carefully  thought through choice of breed and the commitment to take care of him the rest of his life.

Pennut tullaan luovuttamaan vain metsästäviin sekä harrastaviin koteihin, joissa metsästys on jo isäntäväellä "verissä" ja aikaa on käytettävissä koiran kanssa metsästykseen ja touhuiluun. Voisi sanoa, että omistajankin riistainnon on hyvä olla vähintäänkin keskiarvon yläpuolella. Pelkäksi seurakoiraksi sopii joku muu rotu paremmin. Mielestämme on turhaa ottaa pelkästään seurakoiraksi metsästyskoiraa, kun siihen tarkoitukseen on olemassa paljon tarkoituksenmukaisempiakin rotuja. Metsästyksen ohessa nämäkin koirat ovat mitä mainioimpia perhe- ja sohvakoiria. Tarkoitamme siis, että koiran on päästävä ensisijaisesti toteuttamaan viettejään.

Toivomme myös että koiran omistajalla on oma luontainen halu ja kiinnostus tuoda koiraansa esille sekä kokeissa että näyttelyissä sekä käyttää koira PEVISAN *** vaatimissa terveystarkastuksissa. Näin saamme tietoa jalostuskoirien jälkeläisnäytöstä ja nämä tulokset ulkomuodosta ja käyttöominaisuuksista tukevat kasvatustyötä. Tämä rotu on alkujaan suunniteltu nimenomaan metsästykseen, ja se ominaisuus on onneksi vielä tänä päivänäkin erinomainen – pyrimme osaltamme edistämään tämän ominaisuuden kunnioitusta! Ja toki kasvattiemme menestyminen kokeissa tai näyttelyissä tuntuu hienolta.

Kasvattajana koemme suurimmat ilonaiheet, kun saamme seurata aloittelevan koiraharrastajan kehittymistä koiraihmisenä. Emmekä tarkoita pelkästään koiran treenaamista, vaan yleensä yhteiselämää koiran kanssa. On mukavaa, kun omistajat soittavat kysymyksiään ja kertovat ilonaiheitaan. Kasvattiemme kautta olemme saaneet tutustua moniin uusiin ihmisiin ja heistä usean kanssa on syntynyt lämmin ystävyyssuhde. Se onkin yksi hyvä syy jaksaa jatkaa tätä koiraelämää. Haluamme myös omalta osaltamme muistaa menestyneitä. *
Tietysti ilahduttaa, jos jo yhden koiran meiltä ottanut palaa uuden koiran hankintaan luoksemme. Ironista kyllä, mukavaa on myös se, kun jokin vanha kasvattimme on tullut tiensä päähän ja saamme vastaanottaa itkunsekaisen puhelun surevalta omistajalta. Millään ei voi toista siinä tilanteessa juurikaan lohduttaa, mutta mieltä lämmittää se, kun saa lopullisen vahvistuksen sille, että koira on ollut rakas perheenjäsen, jota kaivataan. Toivomme että jokainen kasvattimme on omistajilleen yhtä tärkeä ja ainutlaatuinen kuin sen emänsä on meille.
Pentua hankkiessa tulee muistaa, että mikää koiranpentu ei ole täydellinen. Siitä ei välttämättä tule valiota. Siitä voi tulla sairas tai ruma tai muuten huono. Omalta osaltamme teemme kaikkemme, jotta niin ei kävisi. Toivomme, että pentu täyttää odotuksesi ja että olet valmis rakastamaan sitä koko sen lyhyen elämän ajan, olipa se millainen tahansa; sen ominaisuudet eivät ole sen oma vika. On hyvä muistaa, että ei ole olemassa täydellistä koiraa, täydellistä yhdistelmää, täydellistä pentuetta, täydellistä rotua eikä täydellistä kasvattajaa.
 
Toivommekin kiinteää yhteistyötä kasvattiemme omistajien kanssa, tavoitteena on olla kasvattiemme ja heidän omistajiensa tukenaan läpi koiran elämän- niin iloisissa kuin vaikeissa asioissakin.

We will give our puppies only to homes that are active on hunting and also other activities, and have time to really do thing with their dogs. You could say that also the owners should have enthusiasm for hunting above the average, not just the dog. If you are looking for just a companion, we suggest some other breed that suits better for that. Besides hunting, these dogs however make also good companions and pets. We just emphasize that all dogs should have chance to fulfill their primary instincts in their original purpose. 

We also wish that the owners would have  their own natural desire and enthusiasm to bring their dog out and attend both shows and trials and also take their dogs to health tests required by PEVISA*** for this breed. This is how we get valuable information of our dogs and their progeny, both of their appearance and function, which helps our breeding programme. As this breed was originally designed for hunting  and those qualities are still going on strong, we do our best to furthermore cherish them. With ofcourse the admitted fact that it is rewarding to see dogs bred  by us succeed in the trials.

As breeders our biggest pleasure is to  see a new dogowner develop as a dogperson. We don't mean only the training of the dog but the whole shared life together with the dog.  We are happy when the owners call us to ask for guidance or just tell how they are doing.  Through dogs bred by us we have had the chance to get to know many different people and develop warm friendships. It is one of the reasons we like to keep breeding and being active. We also like to remember  the most succesfull people every year.* We are ofcourse glad if a person who has earlier bought a dog from us later returns to get another dog from us too. Also ironicly, we are glad to receive also those sad phonecalls from the owners telling of a passing away of an older dog. There is nothing that would really help to comfort the person and that situation, but it it the final mark that the dog was a treasured, warmly beloved family memjber, and will be missed. We do hope that every single dog we bred would be as important and uniquely precious to their owners as their dam is to us. 

When getting a puppy you must also remember that no dog is perfect. It might not become a Champion. It can get sick, or ugly or otherwise not that good. We will do everything we can to prevent that from happening. We just hope that the puppy would still fulfill you're expectations and that you are ready and willing to love him for his entire relatively short life, no matter what his quality is; they are not his own fault. It is good to keep in mind there is no such thing as totally perfect dog, perfect combination or perfect breeder. 

We wish to have a firm co-operation with our puppy owners, in addition to be there for the dogs and their owners throughout the dogs lives,  in both the happier and the sadder things they might encounter.
